Red Mountain Ranch Neighbors Turn Out in Opposition to Rezoning of Parcel 7B

admin on August 25, 2009 in Development, Meetings

In what appeared to be a record turnout, homeowner-neighbors of the Red Mountain Ranch community attended a meeting sponsored by Welker Development Resources regarding the rezoning of Parcel 7B.

The meeting was required by the City of Mesa Planning Division as part of the process to seek a zoning modification to the existing parcel which is currently zoned as a driving range.

Welker Development Resources has been hired by Shelby Futch, owner of the Red Mountain Ranch Country Club, to seek the rezoning change which will allow Futch to build out the driving range with 41 custom homes. No timeline has been set for such development but City Council approval would clear any hurdles for that occur.

Here is the beginning of a series of videos of the meeting which are all available on our YouTube account. (We do appologize for the jumpy quality of the video.)

After the letter from the developer that they were removing the re-development of the driving range from the Planning and Zoning Hearing on Sept. 16th due the large hassle environment of the town hall meeting I wanted to follow up with Mr. Jeff McVay from the City of Mesa. Mr. McVay confirmed that the re-development was removed from their agenda. He also confirmed that the large negative feedback from the homeowners that the developer recieved made them remove themselves from the hearing. Mr. McVay also said that they have not gotten themselves list to a new date nor does he know if they will. He also says that the developer should send out notices if they are to go infront of the Planning and Zoning Committee at a future date.

We must keep up the information to all so that they do not slip this through while we are not looking. So if you hear anything, please comment here for all to read. Your nieghbor of 14 years.
